A production-grade FOTA solution requires secure in-vehicle update clients, a scalable cloud platform, delta or incremental updates, campaign management, package signing, entitlement checks, staged rollout, status monitoring, and recovery through rollback or A/B partitioning. Intellias automotive connectivity solutions and telematics services include FOTA Master ECU development, regional load balancing, and open-source and commercial platform integration. Intellias has also delivered full and incremental OTA map updates for a navigation provider whose products serve tens of millions of drivers.
Automotive OTA security starts with a hardware-backed root of trust, secure boot, signed update packages, encrypted transfer, and verification at every step from the cloud repository to the target ECU. Intellias applies ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity planning and Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) to identify attack paths and define controls. Its automotive connectivity solutions also support Uptane-based update architectures and alignment with UNECE R155 and UNECE R156 requirements.
OTA software development covers the in-vehicle update client, cloud backend, update repository, campaign manager, security services, and operational monitoring. A program may update one ECU or use a FOTA Master ECU to coordinate firmware delivery across multiple vehicle ECUs. Intellias telematics and connectivity services include cloud OTA architecture, campaign management, regional load balancing, CANoe-based SIL testing, and telemetry loops that return download, installation, failure, and vehicle-status data to the backend.

Intellias begins by identifying each vehicle’s ECU versions, storage, connectivity, security capabilities, and available update paths. Automotive OTA connectivity solutions can then use compatible in-vehicle clients or gateways, incremental packages for limited bandwidth, staged campaigns, entitlement checks, installation monitoring, and recovery mechanisms. For legacy systems that cannot support direct OTA delivery, Intellias has implemented removable-media updates through USB or SD cards alongside automatic Wi-Fi and cellular updates.
Connected vehicle data ownership and control depend on contracts, applicable law, and each participant’s role. The OEM or mobility provider usually defines processing purposes as the data controller, while drivers retain GDPR rights over personal data and engineering partners act under agreed processor responsibilities. Intellias Telematics and connectivity services support governance through data classification, consent and purpose controls, encryption, pseudonymization, role-based access, retention policies, audit trails, and region-specific storage to address GDPR and data-sovereignty requirements.
