While undertaking a deep business support system (BSS) transformation, a long-term telecom client sought Intellias’s OpenAPI expertise to implement the latest versions of TM Forum Open APIs in the revenue management domain. Doing so ensured compliance with industry standards and enabled seamless integration with third-party products to form cohesive high-performance telecom ecosystems.

This project is one of many joint initiatives between Intellias and a multinational provider of telecommunications services. Business challenge

To keep up with telecommunications industry requirements and support integrations that are essential for end customers, our client is determined to always ensure full compliance with the latest industry standards. With increasing adoption of TM Forum Open APIs as a common telecommunications standard, our client wanted to make sure that their systems complied with the latest TM Forum Open API versions.

As part of their product lifecycle management, the company initiated an upgrade of BSS components (CRM, billing, self-service portals, product catalog, etc.) to the latest versions of TM Forum Open APIs. Such transformation was necessary to ensure the interoperability of our client’s services and seamless integration with other telecom products.

Solution

Using their extensive experience with implementing and customizing Open API specifications, Intellias engineers brought the client’s BSS into compliance with current standards. By applying the latest version of TM Forum APIs, our team modernized the client’s customer-facing services in the revenue domain: billing, payment management, and others.

During the modernization, our engineers upgraded TM Forum APIs to the latest versions and ensured that deprecated versions could no longer be reached by external requests. Focusing on the revenue management domain, we implemented the TMF676 Payment Management API and TMF678 Customer Bill Management API to ensure effective customer billing.

As a result, the client’s BSS is now fully interoperable and compatible with other telecommunications products that support TM Forum specifications while maintaining the broad range of services that constitute our client’s unique offering.

Transformation of our client’s business support systems brought them into compliance with globally adopted TM Forum telecommunications standards. As a result, the company now offers services that can be fully integrated with those of other telecom providers, which allows end customers to form complete ecosystems consisting of compatible components.
