Tokyo, Japan – 28 May 2026 – Intellias, a global partner in AI-enabled product engineering and digital solutions, has officially opened its office in Tokyo to work directly alongside Japanese automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers on the transition toward software-defined vehicle (SDV). The office houses IntelliKit – an Automotive Technology Platform for OEMs developing next-generation cockpit systems. The facility is located at Nan-o Building, 2F, 2-20-1 Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku and has been operational since 1 April 2026.
The current state of Japan’s mobility industry and the acceleration of development
Japan’s automotive industry is globally recognised for its hardware precision and manufacturing efficiency. The transition to SDVs has shifted the parameters of competitiveness: software architecture, AI integration, and development velocity now determine market position alongside hardware quality.
According to the Mobility DX Strategy published by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the country faces a projected shortage of approximately 51,000 software professionals by 2030. Development timelines reflect the structural gap: while agile market entrants complete vehicle software programmes within two to three years, established development cycles frequently require three to four years.
Addressing this gap directly, Intellias enters the Japanese market with an established automotive software portfolio: more than 40 clients from the automotive industry including premium OEMs and EV manufacturers, and software running in over 170 million vehicles globally.The company’s automotive software expertise spans the full stack: embedded systems and AUTOSAR through to ADAS, connectivity, and digital cockpit.

The Tokyo office permanently houses IntelliKit, a portable Automotive Technology Platform that integrates embedded software, AI, HMI, and cloud connectivity across three components – an ECU Kit, an Automotive Kit, and an Automotive Cloud – into a single working system.
Built on solutions from Intellias’ leading technology partners, the platform covers every layer of the cockpit stack – from OS architecture and AI-powered voice assistant and object detection to infotainment, security, and OTA updates. It provides a hands-on environment to observe how key vehicle systems work together in real-world-like conditions.
For OEMs developing next-generation cockpit systems, IntelliKit offers a concrete foundation to test architectures, verify feature integration, and accelerate time-to-market decisions.
