Intellias supported participants of the Student Boot Camp by the Kharkiv IT Cluster with developing a mobile application prototype that promotes ecomobility. Aimed to help cyclists safely and comfortably ride in the city of Kharkiv, the VeloCity app prototype won first place in the Student Boot Camp’s Best Ecoproject category.
VeloCity’s main features are bike-specific navigation and a map of Kharkiv’s cycling infrastructure, including bike lanes and parking racks. Users can also get directions to the closest bicycle repair shops and find fellow cyclists nearby. The velo in the name VeloCity comes from the Ukrainian word for a bicycle — velosyped.
Tapping into their expertise in building intelligent software solutions that enable sustainable urban mobility, Intellias experts helped the team of students develop an app prototype, UI/UX design, and product roadmap. Although the boot camp has ended, the students are continuing to develop VeloCity with Intellias specialists’ support. The app’s creators hope that it will be a valuable tool for bringing Kharkiv authorities’ attention to the weaknesses in micro-mobility infrastructure.
WIntellias has a track record of supporting a cycling lifestyle. The company encourages us to participate in cycling events, organizes team bike trips, and regularly launches initiatives to promote cycling. We’re really united by ecomobility. The idea of creating a navigation app for cyclists seemed exciting to me from the very beginning. I’m sure that the app will find its audience once we’ve finished developing user-friendly functions. I know that the team plans to keep working on the app, and I will be happy to mentor them.
